A couple of terms that will help with this site.
Belayer - A person, 14 years or older, that will spot the climber. They will manage the rope. When the climber advances their position, the rope is pulled through the "Belay" devise, keeping the climber safe. Our knowledgeable staff will train the belayer on what to do. The climbing harness is required to belay.
Top Rope - A type of climbing that allows you to climb the entire gym, from bottom to top and everything in between. The climbing harness and a belayer is required. The climbing shoes and chalk bag are recommended, they help alot.
Boldering - A type of climbing that limits you to under the bouldering line painted in the Top Rope section, or in our 2 bouldering room. These rooms are designed specifically for this type of climbing. Please refer to the Picture Page. Although there is no equipment required, the climbing shoes and chalk bag are recommended.
Q. Is there an age restriction for the gym?
A. Any age can climb but the Belayer needs to be 14+ years old.
Q. Does the gym supply the Belayer's?
A. The only night the gym supplies the Belayer is our "Kids Climbing Night" which is the first Friday of the month, please refer to the Specials Page. All other times the gym does not.
Q. Do I need experience to come in to climb or belay?
A. No. Our knowledgeable staff will assist you every step of the way.
Q. How long can I climb for?
A. There is no time limit to your climb with a purchase of a climbing pass.
Q. Do you offer parties?
A. Yes. Slidell Rocks is a great place to celebrate your next Birthday. We also rent our party area for your “End of Season” team party.
